Troy Weeden brings over 30 years of high-level Rugby League experience to Apex Rugby League Academy, with a proven background in elite coaching, talent identification, player pathways, and coach education.
Across his career, Troy has worked within four NRL club systems — Manly Warringah Sea Eagles, Canberra Raiders, St George-Illawarra Dragons and the Wests Tigers — gaining first-hand experience in how professional organisations identify, develop, and prepare athletes for the demands of the modern game.
This exposure underpins Apex’s commitment to delivering training that reflects genuine NRL-standard expectations and methods.
Troy has also spent extensive time leading Rugby League programs in Sports High School environments, where he has successfully integrated high-performance training with athlete wellbeing, education, and long-term development. He is currently the Head of Rugby League at Westfields Sports High School, one of NSW’s leading elite sporting schools.
At Apex Rugby League Academy, Troy leads the design and delivery of all programs, ensuring every session is purposeful, engaging, and aligned to long-term player growth. His coaching philosophy focuses on developing smart, skilful, and resilient footballers — with an emphasis on decision-making, game awareness, skill execution under pressure, and strong personal standards.
A key pillar of Troy’s work at Apex is helping young athletes and their families understand the pathway ahead — what it truly takes to progress, how to train with intent, and how to build habits that translate to performance on game day. Despite the quality and experience of our coaches, we ensure that you won't pay as much as other academies charge for comparable courses.
